Bonneville Salt Flats - The Lake of Speed.

Imagine a perfectly flat layer of pure white salt stretching to the horizon in every direction. This surreal landscape exists in only a few places on Earth and is known as a salt flat, the remnant of an ancient inland sea.

Located in western Utah along Interstate 80 near the border with Nevada, the famous Bonneville Salt Flats cover about 40 square miles of perfectly flat terrain.

Visitors often describe the experience as surreal. The hard salt surface can resemble a frozen lake that might crack at any moment, while the brilliant white crust reflects sunlight so intensely that the landscape feels almost otherworldly.

The salt flats are also home to the legendary Bonneville Speedway, where land-speed records have been set for more than a century.

Here, vehicles have pushed the limits of engineering and courage, breaking speed barriers of 300, 400, 500 and even over 600 miles per hour.

Every year, events such as World of Speed attract racers from around the world, bringing jet-powered streamliners, vintage muscle cars, motorcycles, and experimental speed machines to this extraordinary natural race track.

The Bonneville Salt Flats are a place where salt meets speed, where dreams of velocity are tested against the endless horizon.
