Death Valley - A Desert Jewel. Only 2 Hours from Las Vegas.
Where the planet feels otherworldly.
Across more than 13,000 km² of Mojave Desert, Death Valley reveals salt flats like lacework, wind-sculpted dunes, kaleidoscopic hills, and horizons that make you feel wonderfully small. Once mined for borax and brushed by a short gold rush (hello, Scotty’s Castle), the valley is now a protected wonder that draws travelers, filmmakers, and dreamers from around the world.
Here lies Badwater Basin (-86 m) - the lowest point in North America - a white web of salt polygons that looks stitched by a phantom spider. Summer heat is legendary (48 °C is normal; records up to 56 °C), and the colors are surreal: saffron, cocoa, rose, slate, even a ghostly blue. No surprise directors chose Death Valley for Star Wars, Zabriskie Point, The Professionals, and more.
By day it can seem lifeless; by night it wakes - lizards, owls, kit foxes. After rare rains, wildflowers ignite the desert in yellow, blue, lilac, white, and pink. And on Racetrack Playa, stones appear to glide across the dry lakebed, etching long tracks in the mud - nature’s quiet mystery.
